The Apple ][
Comment from E-mail
Hi Steve,
I am a massive Apple II fan from childhood and I’ve recently started getting back into programming and writing games. I currently have a IIgs and IIc plus and have owned a Europlus and IIe.
I was wondering which model is your all time favourite?
Many thanks and massive respect

The Apple Iic was my favorite Apple II.
I liked the portability and size. It was basically a laptop before laptops, except that you had to plug it in. The battery technology wasn’t quite there yet, or you could pay a fortune for a Go computer.
I liked that the Apple Iic did everything I needed in an Apple II. With one card plugged in, from Applied Engineering, you got up to 128KB of RAM and also had an Intel processor running CPM. I travelled enough in those days and this was a truly portable solution with an LCD display. That display was minimal. I think it was monochrome text only, and a bit small, but it worked.
In later times I still favored small laptops. The Duo was my favorite of the early ’true’ Macs.
